For Providers

Refer a client

For therapists, physicians, school counselors, and community partners looking for a place to send someone.

If you have someone who needs a therapist and you want to know where they're landing, this page is for you. I'd rather you know exactly what I do and don't take than send someone who has to start over.

How to refer

1

Have them book directly

The simplest path. Send them to my Headway profile, where they can see live availability, verify their insurance, and schedule an intake themselves.

2

Email me first

If you'd rather talk it through before handing off, write to tinaliulmhc@gmail.com. Please don't include identifying clinical details over regular email — a sentence about fit is plenty, and we can arrange a secure channel from there.

3

Introduce yourself as a referral partner

If you expect to refer more than once, use the form below. I'll keep your details on file and let you know when my availability or my clinicians' availability changes.

Who I'm a good fit for

Good fit

  • Adolescents and adults, individual therapy
  • Trauma and PTSD, including complex and childhood trauma — EMDR available
  • Anxiety, including the high-functioning kind that looks like competence
  • Asian American, BIPOC, and queer clients, and children of immigrants
  • Clients who've had therapy before and found it didn't quite reach
  • Other therapists and trainees seeking their own therapy
  • Depression, grief, identity, life transitions, relationship patterns

Not a fit

  • Anyone in acute crisis or needing urgent or after-hours care — this is not a crisis service
  • Clients needing a higher level of care: inpatient, PHP, IOP, or eating disorder treatment
  • Couples and family therapy — I see individuals only
  • Anyone requiring in-person sessions; my practice is fully telehealth
  • Clients outside New York and Florida at the time of session
  • Medication management — I'm an LMHC and don't prescribe
  • Court-ordered treatment, custody evaluations, or forensic assessment

If someone isn't a fit, I'll say so early and point them somewhere better rather than keeping them on a list.

What happens after you refer

  1. Your client books an intake through Headway or emails me directly. There's no separate consultation call — the first appointment is a full intake, which is the fastest honest way to find out if we're a fit.
  2. The intake covers history, current concerns, goals, and some clinical screenings. They'll have space to ask me questions too.
  3. If we're a good match, we schedule ongoing work. If we're not, I offer referrals to someone I think will suit them better.
  4. With their written authorization, I'm glad to coordinate care with you — especially where medication, school, or medical treatment is part of the picture.

Become a referral partner

Tell me a bit about your practice and I'll be in touch. This is also the place to ask whether I'd be a fit for a particular kind of client before you send anyone.

Please don't enter client information here. This form isn't a secure channel for protected health information — it's for introducing yourself. Once we're connected, we'll set up a secure way to share clinical details.

Thanks for reaching out. I'll follow up by your preferred contact method.

Something went wrong. Please email me directly at tinaliulmhc@gmail.com.
