Pregnancy and postpartum can bring feelings that don't match what anyone told you to expect. These experiences are more common than the culture admits. They deserve real support.
Becoming a parent, or trying to, is one of the most emotionally complex things you'll go through. And yet people rarely talk honestly about it. The anxiety, the grief, the quiet feeling that something isn't right: these are more common than anyone admits. You don't have to get through this alone.
Perinatal mental health covers the full emotional terrain of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. That includes perinatal anxiety and depression, postpartum experiences, pregnancy loss and infertility grief, relationship strain, and the disorienting shift in how you see yourself.
You don't have to be in crisis for this to be worth working on. If something feels off, or you're struggling to recognize yourself right now, that's reason enough to reach out.
Perinatal mental health requires training that goes beyond general therapy. I'm completing the PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification) through Postpartum Support International. Training completes in July 2026, with the certification exam to follow. It covers perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy loss, and advanced clinical treatment of perinatal clients.
You won't have to explain the basics or justify why you're struggling.
There's a lot of pressure to feel grateful and joyful about pregnancy and parenthood. You're allowed to feel differently. Struggling, grieving, feeling ambivalent or scared: all of it is welcome here, without judgment.
